Hi! I’m Kerrie and I live and work in Japan! I started out on an English teaching program in high school about 3 ½ years ago. During that time I was approached through word of mouth by many other organisations wanting me to work for them, full or part time – national companies, small businesses, NPOs…quite a variety, and for a variety of ages and purposes.
Over a year ago I was offered a position to establish a kindergarten, and also teach for university, which I took and still do today, with a lot of other freelance work, like give talks, judge speech contests, speaking exams and many other things.
I live in the place I want (a small village in the mountains) and frequently – I have been to places that most people, including Japanese, do not know about!
And how did this happen? Well I completed an ATA Advanced Diploma four years ago. Thanks to this I have not only the qualification, but heaps of knowledge and a link to many important resources. The course gave me the confidence and the knowledge that I needed to be a great English teacher! Not to mention, ATA staff are all very friendly and helpful!
If your dream is to work, live and travel overseas then start an ATA course now! Don’t hesitate! No excuses! May I add that I am not just straight out of school and when I came here, my (then) 16 year old son came too, and experienced the richness of living abroad! The world is your oyster!
