Much of what I learned in the TESOL course has come in very useful, particularly lists of websites for resources! I am given no resources at all by the tertiary college here, so each lesson requires a fair bit of planning. This is not detracting from my enjoyment of being here, or my satisfaction in the classroom by any means. We are on contract here in Ukraine until December, but we may not be in a hurry to head back to Australia. Thanks again for your wonderful TESOL course and brilliant newsletter updates. Keep up the good work ATA!

Hi ATA,

My name is Ben Green, and I completed a TESOL course with ATA Brisbane in April 2010. I’m a qualified secondary teacher from Australia also.

After a couple of years of planning and false starts with jobs that fell through, my wife (also a secondary teacher) and our two children have managed to snag a fantastic job overseas teaching ESL near Kiev, Ukraine.

We are thoroughly enjoying ourselves, meeting the local people here and sharing-kind nature, particularly the enthusiasm that surrounds food!

I’m teaching full time, and my wife is teaching part time. We live on the campus of the tertiary institute where we teach, so when I’m not in class, I’m at home, or we’re out exploring the area.

Kiev is an amazing city in itself, and it also centrally located to reach some amazing destinations in holiday time.
